Setting Display for multiple screens with Dell Docking Stations

When you connect your PC for the first time to a second screen or Docking station in the office you may need to correct the display settings.

When your laptop loads up, Right Click anywhere on the desktop and select Display settings

In the next screen scroll down to the header Multiple Displays and select the dropdown

Select the option that contains extend and select Keep changes on the Windows popup that appears.

At the top of the page you should see an illustration of all of your connected monitors including your laptop. Click the identify button to check the layout matches your setup

Below 1 is my laptop with 2 and 3 being larger monitors.

Click each monitor in the illustration in turn. The one selected will be in blue. Scroll down to see the selected monitors settings and ensure the following settings match on all of the displays.

Scale and Layout 100%

Display Resolution 1920 x 1080

Only by ensuring they match can you have Citrix run over 2 or 3 displays

Ensure any changes are kept by selecting the apply button that appears after a change is made under the illustration.

Open Citrix and ensure it is in Window view. Then drag the window so it goes across all the screens you want it to extend to. Finally maximise the Citrix window.

How to close your laptop and use just 2 screens

  1. Click the Window button
  2. Click Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Select Power and Sleep
  5. Under the heading Related Settings click the link Additional power settings
  6. On the left side of the following screen select Choose what closing the lid does
  7. Using the dropdown options next to When I Close the lid change both to Do Nothing

!!Note that you will need to briefly open the laptop when it drops into timed sleep mode to bring the image back onto the additional monitors!!
