Phishing emails are fraudulent messages that try to trick you into sharing sensitive information or clicking malicious links. Reporting phishing emails helps our IT team and Microsoft improve email security.

Outlook Desktop App (Windows or Mac)

  1. Open the suspicious email but do not click on any links or download attachments.

  2. Go to the Home tab on the ribbon.

  3. Click the Report Message button.

    • If you don’t see this button, click the three dots (…) in the ribbon to find it.

  4. Select Phishing.

  5. The email will automatically be reported to Microsoft and removed from your inbox.

Outlook on the Web (Office 365 browser version)

  1. Open the suspicious email (again, do not click links or attachments).

  2. Click the three dots (…) in the top-right corner of the message window.

  3. Hover over Report or Report Message.

  4. Select Phishing.

  5. The email will be reported to Microsoft and moved to your Deleted Items folder.

Important Reminders

  • Never reply to a suspected phishing email.

  • Do not click on links, download attachments, or provide any information.

  • Always report rather than delete.
