Happy Times :) For those who are "tired" of typing their password coupled with having to use Microsoft Authenticator to sign in, this is for you!!!

You may receive a prompt to set up a Pin for Windows Hello for Business (WHfB), and if you don't, this guide will help you through the process of setting up a PIN for WHfB that will be the only sign on credential required to access your laptop, as against using your password and a code from the Microsoft Authenticator app.

What is Windows Hello for Business, what happened to MFA/2FA?

This is a simple, fast and secure solution from Windows designed to securely protect your device, apps and services. It basically still uses a MFA with an on board chip (TPM) that acts as a device (Just like your Microsoft authenticator on mobile) that creates, stores and manages digital certificates/tokens which verifies and authenticates your credentials.

You may get the notification/prompt below on the bottom right corner of your laptop, please proceed to Enroll now and follow the instructions.

Additionally, if you have missed the above, please watch out!! On your next restart, you will be met with the screen below to Use WHfB and set up a PIN, please proceed and do so.

If you just click on OK, it will proceed to a page where you will be prompted to set a PIN for WHfB, screen will look like below:

NOTE: Minimum of 6 digits PIN must be used.

If you have missed the notification above, please follow the guide below:

In the search bar on your taskbar, please type in "Sign In" and hit enter, you will be met with the page below

Please select the PIN(Windows Hello) option - This is the recommended setting.
NOTE: If your laptop has other compatible biometrics input (IR camera, Fingerprint scanner), you may have the options to setup a Fingerprint or Scan your face (both equally secure).

IMPACT:

Logging into AVD - You would still need to use your password to log on to AVD.

When you open AVD (Remote Desktop) you will be met with a page to sign in with your PIN, select "more choices" and sign in with your password as seen below.

Video below shows how to set up your PIN if you have missed the notifications and pop ups.
